Open Studio
On May 25th, 2024, an Open Studio event will be held at Villa Filanda Antonini, featuring the work of artist-in-residence Jeanne Gaigher. This exciting event provides an opportunity for the public to engage with Jeanne’s artistic practice and explore her latest works.
During her two-month stay, Jeanne has been encouraged by the VFA to involve local businesses and artisans in her creative processes. Specifically, she has collaborated with Dante Negro, a company specializing in metal forging, and with Arper’s upholstery department for sewing the canvases. Thanks to these synergies, Jeanne has been able to expand her knowledge and integrate new disciplines into her artistic practice.
Jeanne’s work revolves around the idea that the body becomes the vessel for what it carries. The composition and layering of materials, particularly gauze and canvas, transform the body into a space where narrative accumulates. It exists in symbiosis with its environment, which blossoms, decays, and disintegrates. To maintain balance between the two, an anatomical form becomes visible within the terrain.
