Workshop
Saturday, April 15 (2-6 p.m.) Matteo Valerio and Sofia Bonato will guide us through experimentation with natural fabrics and colors. Thanks to the support of Villa Filanda Antonini, the workshop involves the use and overlapping of different techniques:
– Batik painting (with hot wax)
– Printmaking (cold printing with dies)
– Natural dyeing with etching (with hot dyeing).
During the four hours, participants will be able to test all the techniques on two white T-shirts. By the end of the workshop, both t-shirts will be transformed via the dyeing and personalization processes. You will learn ancient techniques using traditional dyes such as indigo and madder, which have been known since Roman times.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 15 people and is open to adults and teens over the age of 13. To participate in the workshop, a participation fee of 30 euros per person. Registration for the workshop is done exclusively through the Eventbrite portal. Participants under the age of 20 are entitled to a 50% reduction that will be applied to the payment by selecting the promotional code “MENODI20ANNI”. Warning. It is not possible to purchase under-20 and adult tickets in the same session! You will need to make two separate payment sessions. Please note that unaccompanied minors will be accepted if and only if they present a release form signed by a parent or their legal guardian.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Each participant should bring two clean t-shirts (no sweatshirts, no shirts), plain and light-colored (preferably white or beige). It is necessary to make sure beforehand that they are 100% cotton or 100% linen, as the presence of synthetic fibers will compromise the success of the dyeing. The presence of prints and/or patterns can also alter and compromise the final result. Please note that garments previously treated with bleach and or other solvents are not suitable to be printed, dyed, or painted. Check the tag inside the garment for any doubts. It is recommended to dress in work clothes, of natural fibers, comfortable because during the printing process, they could be stained or ruined.
