Mattia Balsamini (Pordenone, 1987) moved to Los Angeles in 2008, where he began his studies at the Brooks Institute of California with a specialisation in advertising photography. In 2010 he began working at David LaChapelle’s studio as an assistant and archivist. In 2011, after earning a BA with honourable mention, he returned to Italy. Since then, he has been teaching photography at the IUAV University of Venice, as well as extensively photographing technology and its sociological implications, focusing on work as a feature of human identity. Over the years he has done personal and publishing projects for institutions such as MIT, NASA and the Charitè University in Berlin. He has exhibited at the Milan Triennale, MAXXI, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco.
