Artist-Filmmaker
Nora Mandray (she/they) is an artist-filmmaker born in France, educated in the US, and based in Berlin Germany. Spanning a conversation on trauma and resilience, Nora’s work aims to explore truth-telling as a tool of healing in the age of mass extinction.
They’re invested in building empathy with the more-than-human world, with a particular focus on water. Through multidisciplinary works, Nora looks to awaken an ancestral memory – our spiritual connection to liquid life.
Past works have been notably shown at prestigious international festivals and venues including Berlinale, Hot Docs, Sheffield Doc/Fest, the CCA in Lagos and Floating University in Berlin. As a non-fiction writer, Mandray notably worked with NETFLIX, ARTE, and VICE Studios.
Guided by hydrofeminism, each work they create is the result and the document of an encounter with water itself, as well as the water(s) within and between us. In moving with the tides, Nora aims for poetic community, from the movie theater, all the way to the public space.
